Many people are content with their jobs, or at least their position as employees in the larger scheme of things. For this reason, it is very difficult to organize alternate compensation plans that will actually provide for the employees as well as offer appropriate incentives as they perform above the mark. Unfortunately, most people are underpaid for their allegiance to their prized positions as farm cattle to be milked for the sweet nectar known as profit.
Sustainable companies should eschew a platform based on wage slavery as the effects wrought on the employees limit the organization’s capacity to perform. The workers of the world have often woken from their exhausted slumber to unite against their owners, in order to take back control of the labor that they produce. Often, these protests are met with immediate gratification to allay the problems of an unproductive work force (aka loss of profit). With the proper organization, and knowledge of the appropriate organizational structures that will minimize disparity in working conditions, workers of the world could apply the principles of the open source development community to work outside of the framework of corporate patent profit pushing.
When individuals create goods and offer services that are keen to their own interests, organized in a way that respects the consumer as well as the provider, corporations will quickly scramble to reabsorb the loss of loyal employees. When products and services on the marketplace are offered without profit pinching as a priority, the exchange of goods can promote community building and enhancement of identity in all parties involved. Corporations have no place in humanity outside the framework of (wage) slavery, for there is no fruit of labor conducted in this machine.
As the younger generations grow to fill the positions of those retiring to their tax haven bungalows, much room for progress can be filled by the shining opportunities granted by communities organized through internet and other telecommunications networks. A whole host of new resources are available for them to construct the world of their desires, and to solve the increasingly difficult problems created by the profit-centric systems that dominate global commerce today. When the resources of our earth are identified and extracted in a way that is harmonious to nature’s devices, humanity will discover a new age of enlightenment and instruction by the greatest force that could ever be surmised by our species.
